How to wear the Ultra Violet Trend

Two of my kids loved purple when they were really little probably because of Barney the Dinosaur. Although it’s quite unusual because they are boys (why not blue?) but purple apparently sparks creativity and optimism, notice that there are lots of cute purple merchandise that catch your attention and make you want to pick it up. Talk about purple pencil cases, lunch boxes, water bottles and pens.

While I am beyond collecting school stuff, I am happy that purple is in the limelight being selected as Pantone’s colour of the year. And not just ordinary purple, it’s the vibrant and bold purple called Ultra Violet. Well, at least people won’t stare at me now when I’m wearing a deep purple maxi dress.

I wore this dress on our dinner when hubby and I had our staycation at Sofitel Darling Harbour hotel. I wrote a review of the hotel in my previous post but I excluded these shots because it was too much already, besides this is not needed in the review. So voila, this is how Darling Harbour looks like at night.

The ultra violet trend How to wear the purple colour

If you are not into ultra violet yet, you can choose the lighter shades like lilac or lavender. You can also stay minimalist when sporting this colour, these tassel earrings or these killer heels are gorgeous. I went maximalist strutting this purple maxi dress where I chose to wear it with pink belt and bag. Colour blocking with other striking colours like red, orange or pink is the best way to style ultra violet, see it here for inspiration.
