Ok I have to be honest, when I look for a hotel these are the things I consider; the views, the swimming pool (when the weather is warm), the restaurants inside or near the hotel and the bed. I’m happy with Sheraton, Hilton and Shangri-La hotels for their sateen cotton sheets and signature bedding. For my review of Shangri-La Sydney Hotel, read it here. And now comes Sofitel.
Sofitel Darling Harbour is Sydney’s newest 5 star hotel, a French brand which Accor is the parent company. Hubby and I stayed here for another staycation away from the kids over a week ago to try this new hotel. I may not be so fond of their bed sheets but the massive and spectacular Darling Harbour views make up for it many times over. We checked-in after 3PM with plenty of light left and took photos outside and the lobby.
Checking in was a breeze though I tried to upgrade into a corner room so I can have a bath tub with a harbour view but it was booked out. We were happy with our room regardless, aren’t the views gorgeous? Nice touches from this hotel are the Lanvin toiletries and terry cloth cotton robes.
It drizzled later that day but it’s good to experience different weather conditions as I was able to snap the views in different lighting. The top 6 photos were taken the next day when it was sunny, hence the photos were sharp and clear. But the dreary and rainy ones looked softer and gave nostalgic feeling. Also the sunset shot of the Anzac Bridge after the rain was breathtaking, agree? Before we headed for dinner, we received a bottle of champagne and chocolate coated strawberries which was really a sweet gesture probably to help me feel better that I didn’t get my corner room.
Did I say earlier I book this hotel for the pool? Oh yes, that’s the first thing we did after waking up.
Last but not the least, we had to partake the most important meal of the day, breakfast at the 4th level was oh so good. You see, I was always lucky to get the corner table so I can be left alone with my photo taking.
