Sunday is the day that makes me scramble my closet to look for what to wear. It’s a day for church, going out with the boys, family gathering, attending afternoon events or even just shooting the OOTD for the blog. On Saturday nights, I usually figured out in my head what to wear for the next day but there are just times when it’s hazy and I just leave my worries behind.
When it gives me so much time pondering on what to wear then I opt for classic pieces that I find in my closet. It usually works because these pieces don’t get dated in time, are more versatile and blend well with almost anything else that I wear. Here are the items that must be kept and stay in your wardrobe.
1. Tweed Jacket
This jacket is timeless, popularised by Chanel, it can be worn with a skirt, over a dress or with jeans. It doesn’t have to be Chanel but go with something that hugs the figure to give off a slimmer silhouette which is needed especially when it’s worn over a dress. Choose for a dark colour too to appear less casual in case you wear it to corporate work or semi formal events.
2. Black Ankle Boots
Ankle Boots are a staple in anyone’s wardrobe except of course if you live in the tropics. This is the kind of boots that can be worn in the 3 seasons out of 4 as it gives enough coverage to brace the cold without you sweating when the coolish weather warms up in the middle of the day. I preferred a pointed ankle boots when my outfit is dressy so I don’t appear boxy as it elongates my petite frame.
3. Iconic Bag
Beyond being ‘It’ bags some bags become iconic because they didn’t stay being on trend for some period of time, they stood against the test of time and remained most wanted. They never go out of style and are a timeless addition to any collection. I consider my iconic bags as investment as I can resell them anytime provided I take good care of their condition. Chanel flap bag and Lady Dior are some of the iconic bags that I got that are in rotation at the moment. And sometimes I carried them both especially when my toddler comes with me to store his necessary items in the bigger bag, the more bags the better.
Because this is a lifestyle blog too on top of fashion, I have to show what we did on this day when I wore this outfit. It was on a Sunday and we saw a celebration in a park near church so we headed there for curiosity. It turned out to be a Food Truck Festival called Park Feast where it showcased over 30 food trucks and dessert stations, amusement rides and live band. My boys’ grins were ear to ear when they saw different types of yummy looking food and drinks. It was held in an open farm with a free entry. We were so amused we got to eat some food that we had in the USA that we terribly missed because they are not conveniently available here like the cheese steak and philly dog. Deep fried oreos, anyone?
