Waking up in one of the most beautiful places on earth was extraordinary. I took these sunrise shots on our last day at Embassy Suites because we had to wake up early to catch our noontime flight in Buffalo airport. If the flight was any later I wouldn’t have caught a glimpse of it. This was the best sunrise I’ve seen although being not a morning person I don’t really get to witness many sunrises. But so far with our US/Canada trip I’ve got to wake up every 4 to 5 days really early to move onto the next city.
Not complaining at all, this travel holiday has taught me a lot of things. I learned different cultures in an instant, eaten so many new foods and most of all we have bonded so much as a family. We experienced new things together at once and we even got sick together too haha. Nevertheless, whichever city we went when we saw a gelato place we always indulged in it as it’s an instant comfort food whether we had a dripping nose or not 🙂
There are many fun things to do for families with children or for single people. Though our main reason to visit this part of Northern America was to do activities that involves around the falls I have to list down the must things to do.
Clifton Hill
Clifton hill features dozens of fun, thrilling, and amazing attractions. It has wax museum, carnival rides, arcades and haunted houses. There’s also the Niagara Skywheel that offers tantalizing views of Niagara Falls and Clifton Hill. And if you are like my boys who are into arcade games, you can spend the whole day gaming and lose yourself. I was looking at them playing games and waiting when would they finish until I can’t wait no more. So I decided to try one myself, if you can’t beat them, join them!
Mistrider Zipline
As we have small children we couldn’t do this extreme activity and though I’ve done it before somewhere I wouldn’t do it here. The zipline takes you on a breathtaking ride into the gorge, towards the base of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Isn’t that massively scary haha.
Grand View Marketplace
A great place to buy gifts and souvenirs, grab food and sit down to eat while enjoying the view of the American Falls. We had ice cream here to cool down ourselves after taking loads of photos. Zipline and Hornblower Cruise start from here.
Casino Resort
I’m not encouraging to play in the casino because we never did it too but this resort has a beautiful entry way with an illuminated fountain. It has a great food court and shops and it’s where we went for lunch. It has Avalon Theatre which holds concerts of known musicians. Too bad, I just missed the Air Supply 🙂
Maid of the Mist/Hornblower
Now, this is the highlight of my Niagara adventure and maybe in my entire holiday. Too bad only my oldest son came with me. Nevertheless, it was spectacular. The thunderous roar of the most powerful waterfalls just a few metres away from me was overwhelming. It’s a metaphor of God’s never ending power and love. The cruise started from the American Falls going to the Horseshoe and stayed there for a few minutes. I was literally drenched, even with the raincoat on my jeans and sneakers were still soaked. My son told me to keep my mobile phone away as we were heading towards the Horseshoe falls but I couldn’t stop it as that was the only time I could capture that close.
I was still wearing my OOTD which was a grey choker knitted top and embroidered jeans. But I had to change footwear into sneakers and used my waterproof Kenzo bag, the one I wore in Disneyland. That bag helped me a lot to store my tickets, money and mobile phone. Yes, I kept my mobile phone eventually when the boat stopped and we were only a metre away from the Canadian Falls.
