This photo was taken the day before the Mandalay Bay mass shooting at around 6PM when the spectators for the country music festival were heading towards the hotel. We finished shopping at the Fashion Show mall and were heading back to the Tropicana Hotel where we were staying. I told my oldest son to go with me to The Strip at the back of our hotel to shoot for my OOTD. Unaware of the concert, I was wondering why the girls were wearing cowboy boots just like the girl captured in the photo behind me.
I didn’t know about the event at all until I just heard the bad news the next day. But I can remember the faces of the passers by, they seemed happy, carefree and excited for the show. And I just felt sorry it ended in tragedy. While I don’t intend to put a sad note in this post I would just like to express sympathy for the victims and their families and I wish for more peace in this world.
Oh yea, there’s a lot of fun things to do in Vegas aside from gambling and getting married. We included this city in our itinerary for one main reason and that was to shop. Hence, we put this towards the end of our trip in case we’ll be over baggage. I try not to make this a long post just enough to show my photos in an entertaining way I hope. So here are the things we did in Las Vegas that took most of our 4 full days stay.
We went to North Premium Outlets on our first day for a shopping spree. The boys went crazy to pick the things they wanted as we’re surprised how cheap the prices were, at least compared to similar goods down under. My hubby who doesn’t like travelling wanted to come back to shop more. We ended up buying a large Samsonite luggage to hold our stuff. I got these 2 Kendall & Kylie OTS rompers in PacSun and these blue tassel earrings from Loft. We also went to the Fashion Show mall for the boys’ camping stuff and finally I found a Gucci Marmont GG belt in Bellagio Hotel. It was sold-out in Australia for a long time and I found it there, yay!
Ok, I confess hubby and I are both foodie and we allocate good budget for food alone. We prefer not to include breakfast in our hotel accommodation so we can have different big breakky everyday. We were surprised to have the best burgers and shakes in Johnny Rockets which even the kids forgot mentioning McDonalds after that. And we were lucky that one of hubby’s favourite chefs Robert Irvine’s restaurant was right in our hotel.
Relax and Swim
When in Vegas, do stay in a hotel where there’s a pool. Why? Because it’s really hot and after the whole day shopping and roaming around the city it would be good to submerge in a cool water with the presence of palm trees in the pool area. How cool is that actually? And no, I didn’t swim in the pool with the tassel earrings on 🙂
Not only at night but during the day the Strip is also fascinating to see. I enjoyed looking at the different themes and designs of the massive hotels in the Strip during daytime. While at night I get bedazzled with the blinding and crazy neon lights.
