Where to Stay in the Great Ocean Road

This is something I’ve never done yet here in my blog but since I’ve listed out the places where to visit and eat in the Great Ocean Road in my previous posts I might as well write a review about the accommodations that we stayed. Hopefully, it will help somebody who is in the process of planning to travel on this long stretch of road.

Wyndham Torquay

Torquay was the last town we stayed but I’m doing the review about it first because I just couldn’t wait. It’s not only because we are a club owner but I honestly like the accommodation the most during this travel. It was refreshing to see a modern and updated rooms and the outdoor pool looked so inviting. Other amenities were indoor pool, outdoor spa, children’s playground, gym, games room and tennis court.

We always received a bottle of wine every time we checked-in at any Wyndham hotel in the South Pacific region, though maybe this is not the case for a non-club owner. The resort is a beachfront property and the strip of cafes and restaurants are a 15-minute walk. If you know my hubby he’d never walk that far for anything so we took the car every time we went out, good thing there’s no problem with parking anywhere in the area. Wi-Fi was excellent so I didn’t get any abuse from the boys why I picked this accommodation 🙂

Lightkeepers Inn Motel, Aireys Inlet

This is a dated motel but very clean from the sheets to the bathroom. It’s very affordable too and I was happy our stay was comfortable even if there’s no luxurious feature here. The best point about this motel was it’s only a 5 minute-drive to the Split Point Lighthouse which I raved so much on my past post. It’s also next to an awesome Greek restaurant where we had our first dinner. What more, the staff was really helpful and kind and he gave us a free litre of milk for my little boy when we can’t find any opened shop in the area.

Sea Foam Villas, Port Campbell

This is a reasonably priced accommodation inspite of it being a beach front. It needs a little bit of update too but I think it’s already one of the top resorts in the area. It’s right in the heart of town where the fish and chips shop is just next to it. We loved the verandah that had a direct view to the beach where we did a picnic. My little boy loved the big spa bath although the Wi-Fi that night didn’t work properly perhaps because of the coming storm.

No doubt, the location was the winning factor about this accommodation. I went to the jetty that was only a 3-minute walk and saw this beautiful sunset.

One hotel I wanted to book was the Lorne Mantra had we stayed in Lorne. But maybe that would be our hot spot the next time we drive by the Great Ocean Road.
