Knitted jumper was the first thing I bought when I arrived Sydney on a winter’s day so many years ago. It was some sort of a welcome gesture to myself and a solace to embrace the cold. I remember it was soft and cosy pink knit that stayed with me for several winters.
A closet staple, everyone has a knitwear of any form. We can’t live the cold without it, we can look polish or frumpy it is up to us how we wear it. But these are the reasons why we are sticking to this fabric when the weather changes from the slightly cooler temp to the deepest of winter chill.
Comfortable and Warm
The softness and elasticity in knits come from the freedom of movement and this makes knitwear mould and move with the body. The stretch also provides for a good fit giving comfort and warmth at the same time.
Versatile and Easy to Style
Knits are very easy to style, to dress up or dress down with just a few accessories. If it’s a sweater whether tuck in or tuck out although this depends on the thickness of the material. In my case, I preferred to tuck it in as it’s of a thin kind and looked better held with the belt.
Timeless and Low Maintenance
If you’ve got a black or white turtleneck sweater you’re good to go. Can be worn under a blazer or on its own with a skirt or trousers. I can’t remember how long ago I got this black turtleneck but it’s been with me since the beginning of time. And it’s true with most knitwear, you can wear them every cold season year in year out as they stay timeless with low maintenance.
